Mission

The Wolf Summit Wesleyan Methodist Church exists as a place to help people discover a personal relationship with God, grow in their faith and Christlikeness, and serve God by reaching others with the Gospel.

OUR MISSION IS TO PROVIDE:

  • A place to DISCOVER GOD

The highest priority of the church is to help people find God. It is our desire to help those who are broken and lost discover joy, healing, and hope through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

  • A place to GROW IN GRACE

We not only want to help people find God but also to find a community of believers who want to walk the journey of faith with them. God wants every believer to grow in their faith and Christlikeness, to learn of the rich resources of His grace, and to discover and use their gifts for His glory. Our goal is to help Christians grow in grace and develop a deeper walk with God.

  • A place to SERVE GOD

We desire that every believer be involved in reaching out and serving others. God has a plan and purpose for every Christian and wants them to reach the lost with the same message of forgiveness, hope, and healing that they found in Jesus Christ. This is accomplished through acts of love and kindness, personal evangelism, outreach, and teaching. We want to assist and equip people in fulfilling God’s purpose of service for their life.

What We Believe

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God, the only authoritative guide for faith and practice.

One God

We believe in one eternal, almighty God who exists in a trinity of persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Salvation

We believe in regeneration, a work of the Holy Spirit by which the pardoned sinner becomes a child of God; this work is received through faith in Jesus Christ, whereby the regenerate are delivered from the power of sin which reigns over all the unregenerate, so that they love God and through grace serve Him with the will and affections of the heart.

Sanctification

We believe in entire sanctification, a second definite work of grace wrought in the heart by the Holy Spirit, subsequent to regeneration. The evidence of this experience is not any supernatural gift, but an inner witness that the heart has been cleansed from sin.

Separation

We believe that the person who belongs to Christ will show a transformed life by separation from all evil and from worldly practices and attitudes.

Mission

We believe the mission of the Church is to take the Gospel Message to the world and to lead people into a personal relationship with Christ.

Christ’s Return

We believe that Christ will personally return to this earth according to His own promise.

Daniel & Beverly Cope

Dan and his wife, Beverly, are devoted parents to four wonderful children: Leanna, married to Tyler; Lynnette, who is married to Dylan; Katlyn, married to Devan; and Kayla, married to Brentin. Together, they created a loving family that now includes seven beautiful grandchildren, bringing joy and laughter to their lives.

Dan's ministry journey began in Pennsylvania, where he grew up surrounded by a close-knit community. At the tender age of eight, a pivotal moment occurred in his life when he accepted Christianity, an experience that ignited a profound sense of purpose within him. Soon after, he felt the unmistakable call to preach the gospel, a calling that would shape his life and the lives of countless others.

In pursuit of this divine mission, Dan attended Allegheny Wesleyan College, where he graduated in 1993, equipped with the knowledge and passion needed to serve his community. Following his graduation, he embarked on a pastoral journey, serving diligently in Pennsylvania from 1994 to 2003. During this time, Dan established deep roots in his congregation, offering guidance, support, and inspiration to all who turned to him.

In 2004, seeking to continue his ministry in a new setting, Dan and Beverly made the significant decision to relocate to Wolf Summit, WV. Embracing this new chapter, Dan answered the call to serve as the pastor in this vibrant community. Since then, he has been a steadfast and compassionate leader, guiding his congregation through life’s challenges with unwavering faith and grace.

Through his dedication and passion, Dan has not only fulfilled his calling as a pastor but has also fostered a strong family legacy, filled with love, faith, and the joys of grandparenthood. This journey reflects not just a career but a life devoted to nurturing relationships and spreading the gospel, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he meets.
